University Of Southern Maine

At University Of Southern Maine we offer flexible and relevant degree and certificate programs — in a variety of professional and academic fields — designed to meet the needs of busy, working professionals. Some programs are partially or completely online.

  • Nearly 90% hold terminal degrees from distinguished universities like Harvard and Yale
  • We’re proud to have multiple Fulbright and Guggenheim Fellows
  • Still active in their fields, you’ll find business leaders, government advisors, public service practitioners, and acclaimed authors and artists, among others
  • They are dedicated to helping you connect classroom theory and research to real-world experiences through practicums, internships, and community projects. Flexibility is important — you want to take classes on your schedule. We offer online, blended, and low-residency programs that meet the same rigorous standards as in-person programs and are taught by the same outstanding professors.

Our stimulating classes, challenging coursework, and outstanding faculty demonstrate the academic strength of our programs. Application instructions, materials, and deadlines vary — review our application process carefully!

The University of Southern Maine’s 145th Commencement Ceremony will take place at 9am on Saturday, May 10th, 2025. Please complete the application to graduate by the March 1st deadline in order to participate in Commencement.

There are many different types of scholarships with a broad range of eligibility requirements. Some scholarships can be awarded automatically when you apply for admission based on your prior academic performance while others may require a separate application or even a nomination from faculty. You can explore scholarships by student type, special interest, or affiliation.
